Twinsie Thursday: Negative Space Tribal Nail Art

Hello lovelies!
Here I am again from Holland, for another Twinsie Thursday! We decided on Negative Space Manis this month, since they're all the rage right now! Samantha came with the particular suggestion of a black-and-white tribal and as you can see, that was an awesome idea!!! It matches my necklace, too! :D

I started off with a base coat and then freehanded the black and white with a detail brush and black and white acrylic paint. Then I applied two coats of top coat to even it all out. It takes some effort and a really steady hand, but since one does not need in-between dry time, it is relatively fast!

That was fun, Samantha! Good choice on your part :D

Hello lovelies!

Today's Twinsie Thursday almost didn't make it due to North Carolina's power outage! But my bestie got a back-up generator so the day is saved! 

So today is all about looooooooooove <3 Tomorrow is Valentine's Day after all. Well this year I have nothing much going on; there was this guy a few months ago, but that didn't work out. Kinda still hurts a teensy bit, so I decided to be a "true artist", tap into my "pain" and express myself through art. Hence, I spray painted a miniature wall with my discontent ;)

 
The brick-colour is "Congac" from Pieces. The rest was painted on with stripers, tiny brushes and an assortment of acrylic paints (which were a pain in the butt, it had poor opacity) and nail polish.

I applied 1 thick coat of SV and then I finished it off with Gosh matte top coat.

The whole thing gave me a nice rebellious vibe, lol ;) It instantly cheered me up ;)

Twinsie Thursday: Christmas Skittles

It is Twinsie Thursday once again! Check out these cute skittles Lothwen did. So cute! 

Hello lovelies!

Today we have the last Twinsie Thursday of the year! And what better theme than a Christmas Skittle :D I saw Samantha's skittle even before I had started mine, and I swear, her Santa is so jolly good! I didn't even try after I saw that ;) I love her mani :)

OK so this is what I came up with:

For The Snowman, I used a base of W7 White, dotted messy dots (I mean, charcoal isn't perfectly round, right?) with a dotting tool and Paris Memories 236. I mixed some yellow and red to get the orange (I had misplaced mine) and painted the carrot with a dotting tool. It turned into a lumpy one, lol.
On my middle finger I painted Rudolph (I thought Rudolph - middle finger... YES). I used an unnamed brown polish from HEMA for the base. The eyes I dotted with the same white and black as before. The nose I dotted first with an unnamed red from Japan and then with W7 Red Dazzle. The antlers I applied with my dotting tool and Essence Hazelnut Cream Pie. 

Santa's Suit on the ring finger has a red base of a Japanese polish. I applied the white with the brush from the bottle, as well as the black. Then I added the stud (from Made By Me) for the belt buckle.
The Christmas Tree is on a black base, freehanded with Green Dazzle. The ornaments are dotted on with Maybelline Brocades "Rosy Rosettes" and "Foil Flash". I could only find a little lilac star stud, so I used that to top it off. I sealed in everything with Seche Vite  :)

Twinsie Thursday: Thanksgiving

Here I am again for Twinsie Thursday! Today is all about Thanksgiving :D Since I'm from Holland, we don't celebrate it, but for all US followers and for Samantha, I thought it would be nice. Now while searching for some info, I stumbled upon the nicest coincidence! Wikipedia says: "According to historian Jeremy Bangs, director of the Leiden American Pilgrim Museum, the Pilgrims may have been influenced by watching the annual services of Thanksgiving for the relief of the siege of Leiden in 1574, while they were staying in Leiden."

and 
"Many of the Pilgrims who migrated to the Plymouth Plantation had resided in the city of Leiden from 1609–1620, many of whom had recorded their births, marriages and deaths at the Pieterskerk. To commemorate this, a non-denominational Thanksgiving Day service is held each year on the morning of the American Thanksgiving Day in the Pieterskerk, a Gothic church in Leiden, to commemorate the hospitality the Pilgrims received in Leiden on their way to the New World."

Now I happen to live in Leiden :) So does that not tie everything together nicely? I must soon visit that museum :D 

This is what I created for the occasion:

 

These were the polishes I used:

I used a base of NYC "Midtown Mink" and created the glitter gradient with "Master of Disguise" from the amazing "Slice of Life" collection by Delush Polish. Then, with a nail art brush, I painted on the pumpkin by mixing the orange and yellow in different ratios. Then I finished it with some green mixed with yellow leaves, which I touched up with some glitter to make it fab ;-)

Twinsie Thursday: 80's Funk!

Hello fellow nail polish addicts!

Here I am again, for another Twinsie Thursday! This time we themed it 80's (or early 90's), you know, when it was weird and colourful, with horrific prints and neon and colours that just clashed. It might have sneaked its way back into fashion, albeit in a contemporary form, but I certainly saw some of its madness in the stores last summer! Summer is gone, but we celebrate it one last time with a funky 80's design, using black, white, purple and yellow. And this is my take on it!

I used Essie "Nourish Me" base coat, 2 coats of W7 "White", and then Seche Vite to speed up the drying process. I waited 15 minutes and then taped off random patches in triangle form (I should have waited 5 more minutes though), and painted them with Pieces "Dark Purple", topped off with another coat of SV. Then I repeated the process, but with Vogue "Cítrico". Then with a nail art brush and some black polish (Paris Memories 236), I added the detailed shapes. Another coat of SV, that unfortunately smeared everything, and I was done!

Guest Post: I ♥ Nail Candy

Hello Lacquer Lovers! Today I have a guest post from Jasmine! I hope you love the mani as much as I did! :)

 

Hello there! I’m Jasmine from I ♥ Nail Candy. Today, I have a manicure inspired by Samantha’s blog! Initially, I planned on recreating the blog background flower pattern on my nails, but when I noticed the delicate yellow design on the corners of her banner, I decided to go with those. I love how they’re such subtle and tiny details, but they contribute so much to the overall look. Kind of like the details in nail art, you know? :)

I put the blog’s name on the thumb to make this mani special!

The pink crème base is 2 coats of Pupa N 265 (this one came with the candy-colored Pupa Bubbles manicure set). I would have gone with a darker pink to match the banner, but as I’ve said, initially, I was going to paint the floral pattern. I still like how this shade looked with the yellow, though!

Once the base was dry, I started freehanding the design with The Face Shop YL702 and a paintbrush.

And once the yellow crème was dry, I applied a layer of top coat to smooth it out and to add some shine!

Guest Post June~ Nail Art Novice

It has been said that all good things come to an end! With that said today is the last post of Guest Post June. Have no fear; I have plenty of guest posts coming your way every month! Today's post comes from Jenni at Nail Art Novice!

Hello Southern Sparklies, my name is Nail Art Novice and I run the blog nailartnovice.blogspot.com. I’m so happy to be here guest posting today-a big thanks to Samantha for having me! As you may have guessed from my name, I’m a bit of newbie to the nail art world-I only started my blog in January and had never done anything more exciting than putting crackle top coat on. I’m slowly learning lots of new fun nail art techniques and getting better at them-so please forgive me if I’m not the neatest in the world, haha!

We’re finally getting some warmer weather here in the UK and one of my favourite things to do in the sunshine is sit outside in a beer garden with my friends drinking fruity ciders, so this mani is inspired by my favourite flavour-Strawberry and Lime, yum yum!

 

On all but my accent nails I created a gradient of Revlon-Sunshine Sparkle and Rimmel-Sunshine, two lovely yellows to get that summer sun feeling. I added some bright blue dots with Sally Hansen-Himalayan Blue because I felt like the gradients were too boring on their own! I decided to turn one of my accents into a strawberry using Barry M-Passion Fruit, Barry M-Key Lime and added seeds in ‘Sunshine’. The other was made into a lime using Barry M-Spring Green and Key Lime (I’m afraid this is a UK brand but they make some really awesome shades and I’m a bit addicted!) and then added details using a Barry M nail art pen in white. 

 

Overall I love how this mani turned out-it’s really fun and summery and makes me really happy to have it on my nails-especially if they’re wrapped around a glass of ice cold cider-Cheers!

Guest Post June~ Barb's Nail Art Addiction

Today is the fourth installment of Guest Post June! Barb, from Barb's Nail Art Addiction, has a wonderful post for you below!

Hi everyone!!  First off, I’d like to thank Samantha for allowing me to be a guest poster on her awesome blog!  My name is Barb and I don’t have a blog, but I created a Facebook page just for my nails.  You can find that HERE and feel free to follow me! 

I had a hard time figuring out what I was going to do for the guest post and couldn’t make up my mind.  I did this manicure and when I was finished, I loved it so much I decided to share it with Samantha and her lovely followers.

This is Orly Preamp with Hard Candy So So Sequin on the accent nail.  This manicure is soooo sparkly in the sun!  There is a golden shimmer going through Preamp that is so pretty!!  Preamp was a little patchy the first coat but it evened out nice with the second coat.  So So Sequin was a bit thick but manageable and that is two coats as well.

I purposely blurred this photo in the sunlight and you can really see the shimmer!
